It’s time to kick-off the Sacramento Music Festival event, and this year the festival is celebrating like no other. It’s the festival’s 40th birthday and they have scheduled an exciting lineup including headliners like Los Lobos, Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, Ben Taylor, The Blasters, John Lee Hooker , Jr., The James Hunter Six, Wanda Jackson, Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks, James Garner’s Cash Tribute, The Rhythm Vandals, The Beer Dawgs, Jimmy Pailer, The Kyle Rowland Band, and many more!
Sacramento Music Festival Event 2013
The Sacramento Music Festival now includes a full range of great music while still honoring their jazz tradition of blues, rock, jazz and dance bands. This year, 84 artists will grace the stages at over 20 sites from Old Sacramento to the Convention Center, and on the Delta King riverboat. Where else can hear this much music over a four-day period and such a low price? Awesome right!
The Sacramento Music Festival takes place Memorial Day Weekend, May 24th – May 27th 2013. Events are scheduled Friday – Sunday from 10:00AM to Midnight, and Monday from 10:00AM – 3:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased daily or you can purchase an All-Events badge and enjoy all four days at a bargain price.

Skip’s Music All Stars – Celebrating 40 years of the Sacramento Music Fesitval
In celebration of the Sacramento Music Festival’s 40th anniversary, Skip’s Music is welcoming a number of the Sacramento Valley’s greatest artists on one stage at the Firehouse Lot starting at 5:00 PM on Saturday night. Skip’s special artists will include Frank Hannon of Tesla, Brad Lang of Y&T, and members of Montrose, Steel Breeze, Pablo Cruise, Night Ranger and REO Speedwagon. Other local performers include Steve Brown of Oleander, Steve Wall and Bawb Pearce of the Beer Dawgs and Gene Smith of Kai Kln. You don’t want to miss this concert!
Update: We caught this concert last night and this was by far my favorite event at the Sacramento Musical Festival this year. Not only did Frank Hannon from Tesla rock it, but Jeff Keith the lead singer from Tesla appeared and closed the show rocking some of Tesla’s most popular music. After the show, I was lucky enough to head back stage for a meet and greet with some of the band members, including the ever-so-awesome Frank Hannon from Tesla, who by the way is a total sweet-heart and was so gracious to pose for a photograph for me. Thanks Frank! And thank you Skip for putting together such an amazing venue!
Family Fun at the Sac Music Fest
Not only do we love the Sacramento Music Festival but our children do too! We have made more than our share of amazing memories and we love how excited our children are to return every year.
As always, our Pirates of the Caribbean enthusiasts were once again on the hunt for Captain Jack Sparrow to take their annual photograph with him. Taking a photograph with Captain Jack Sparrow has become a tradition for our family every year we visit the Sacramento Music Festival. We give Captain Jack (who ever he may be) a big thank you for making our children’s day every year, and for giving them memories that will last for years to come.
